Thicker lashes: ZuZu Luxe mascara. Alternate: BWC Regular or Ultimate Natural Mascara if applied with several coats. BWC mascara takes extra coats beatifully without clumping.
Longer lashes: FACE atelier Sculpt .Mascara
Long wearing: BWC Waterproof Mascara (water resistant might be a better way to describe this mascara).
Sensitive eyes/contact wearers: BWC Regular Mascara or Ultimate Natural Mascara.
Blondes (true brown mascara): BWC Ultimate Natural Mascara in Walnut.
To elongate the eye area: Piece several eyelashes together in the far corner of the eye with your mascara.
If your eye area directly under the eye is flat: Eye liner is a must for you! This will add dimension to your eyes and make them stand out.
Unholy...err...unruly brows? Try ZuZu Luxe Clear Mascara applied directly to the top of the brows. Those babies will stay put.
The smoothest way to apply lip liner: Start on the outer corner of the lip, then work your way into the center of the lip. This works with your lip muscle, instead of against it, and makes for smoother sailing when applying your lip liner.
Perfect lipstick primer! Lip liner is the perfect primer for lipstick. When applying lip liner, line your lips and then fill them in completely with the lip liner. Your lipstick will go on more evenly and will last much longer. Your pencil line will blend beautifully with your lipstick, too - no jarring, separate line to distract from those perfect lips.
Love a lip liner shade? Use it for your lip color, too! Line and fill in your lips with the liner, and then apply a clear gloss such as ZuZu Luxe Crystal Lip Gloss or FACE atelier Lip RX to keep your lips moisturized.
A fun summer tip: Mix a hot red lipstick like ZuZu Luxe Starlet with a tiny bit of your face moisturizer for a smudged, sultry, lighter red lip. Your skin won't be the only thing sizzling in the heat this summer!
Perfect pairs: Having trouble finding the perfect lip liner to match your lipstick? Below is a chart with the perfect pairs. If you prefer natural products, go with Gabriel Color, FACEFACTS, and ZuZu Luxe.
To lift the cheek bones: Apply the cheek color onto the apples of the cheeks and just under the cheek bones. Then, apply a lighter cheek color or a highlighter like Alima's Luminous Sheer Powder in Sorbet or Lumina to the top of the cheek bones and touch a little on the temples. Ooh, look at those cheeks!
For that coveted all over sun-kissed glow: Here's an easy trick that works for most face shapes:
1. Starting at the forehead, create the shape of a "3" on either side of the face, with a bronzing powder such as FACE atelier's Cognac Bronzer to create a naturally sun-kissed look. The forehead, cheeks, and jaw line are typical areas that the sun would naturally "kiss" your face.
2. With what's left on the brush, brush down the nose and touch a little on the chin to finish.
3. Don't forget your neck! No one wants a line on the chin separating the neck from the face. Take a little bronzer down either side of your neck.
4. If wearing a lower-cut shirt, dust some on those collar bones, where the sun would naturally touch the skin.
Voila! Hello Sun-Goddess!
Glow with FACE atelier's Ultra Sheer in Bronze, Opal, Champagne, or Peach: Mix a few drops of this decadent liquid color with your liquid foundation and apply all over to add a healthy glow to the skin.
This works great to diffuse light on the face, distracting from imperfections, uneven skin, AND yes, even fine lines. The myth that matte is the only way to go for women over 40 is, well, a myth.
For a more natural look, try mixing your Ultra Sheer with your moisturizer and skip the foundation. Sum-sum-summer time!
For acne and rosacea: Your concealer covers best if placed over the foundation but before the setting powder. A yellow-undertone concealer offsets redness.
Alima's Pistachio Color Balancing Powder also offsets redness. Apply the Pistachio first, then your foundation.
For dark circles: Ideally, have your concealer match your skin tone. Go no more than a half shade to a shade lighter. Otherwise, you'll replace dark circles with white circles!
Matching concealer and powder to foundation: The following table shows the best concealer and powder choices for the foundations we sell. If you prefer natural products, go with Gabriel and ZuZu Luxe.
Caring for your bushes: Be nice to them and they will stay lovely longer. Clean them. No, not every day! If you notice that your eyeshadow seems to powder off of your brush, it's time to wash it. If your powder brush is fanned out...it's time to wash it. Safe bet is to get in the habit of washing them 2 or 3 times per month, depending on how much you use them. If you have oily skin (like me), make sure to wash them once a week.
Do you need brush cleaner?
No, it's not absolutely necessary. Try using a gentle shampoo like Alba's Gentle Shampoo. If your hair likes it, your brushes will too.
